Properly cared for, quality linen lasts decades and improves with every wash. Here is exactly how to do it.
Washing
Machine wash cold or warm — no higher than 40°C. Gentle cycle. Use mild detergent. Never bleach coloured linen. Remove immediately from the machine and hang to dry — the faster you hang it, the less wrinkling occurs. Tumble drying on low heat is acceptable but hanging to dry preserves the fibres better and produces a more natural texture.
Ironing and Storage
Iron linen slightly damp on a medium-hot setting for a smooth finish. For the natural textured look that defines casual linen dressing, skip ironing entirely — the fabric looks intentional either way. Store linen folded or hung in a dry, well-ventilated space. Cedar blocks or lavender sachets maintain freshness and deter moths. Linen stored correctly lasts a lifetime — which is exactly the point of buying quality.
